Recently I met with a Publicist who I truly think can help get my story told in a movie. She has the experience, the connections, is a wonderful person, and wants to help. Most importantly, she loves my story, as it is.

In the past, it always amuses me that the publicists, editors, screen writers, producers, etc. I have sat down and talked to about my book, want to add something. They want to make it their story. What I try and ask out of courtesy is “Did you like the story?”. They all say “Yes”, but, then they want to add something more. My reaction is that “if it is truly a good story and you feel you wanted to keep turning the pages, then why change it?” I try and remind them, again not in an intimidating way, that many readers (unsolicited) have shared the opinion that it is a wonderful story, although it is crude, as it is. With this questioning, usually the person agrees with me after thinking it through. From the very begining in my book, I tell readers my problems of not being a writer and ask them to please try and read the story as I wrote it and please forgive me for my lack of writing skills. Most of them get it and explain afterwards that that is ultimately what they liked in the book. They were my words. No polish.
