I was so fortunate to have been born the 11th of 12 Children in the early 1950’s in America, the son of Sicilian immigrants. I owe so many great Americans who reached out to help me along the way. Pictured on the left is my little sister and me on the front steps of the Guardian Angel Home Orphanage in 1965, where we were raised since our family situation was very impoverished. On the right is me 54 years later. American is a wonderful place to live. I am grateful to a long list of considerate people who reached out to help me like the Sisters Of St. Francis in Joliet, as well as the many businesses who gave to us at the orphanage to keep us going. God Bless America as we reflect on our heritage on this 4th of July, 2020. Sal (www.saldileo.com)
