It is hard to believe this is our fourteenth year since we began our little retreat center on beautiful Lake George in the Paul Bunyan Forest of Northwest Minnesota. Our mission is to provide a place of peace and prayer for those who serve God at no charge. We have many guests now stay with us. It has truly been a wonderful journey. Thank you for all you have contributed to make it what it is. Our true joy comes when we read the journal notes of those who stay and how much St. Francis Lodge touched them. We don’t charge so this is our reward.
As we mentioned in our last newsletter in January, we are looking forward to getting the Winter behind us and beginning our Spring projects at St. Francis Lodge. It has always been a labor of love to get it ready for the new season for the Nuns and guests who stay with us.
Our projects this year are the following…
1. New stairs down to the Chapel to make it easier to get up and down (the Sisters Of St. Francis in Joliet, IL requested this).
2. Finishing off the “Outdoor Altar and Sanctuary”. We just need to put the brackets up and get the Altar top made.
3. Screening in the Back Deck/Porch.
4. Building the new retaining wall just behind the fire pit to create a patio to place a picnic table and grill for more outdoor cooking for our guests.
5. Get The Docks in the water (early May)
6. Put the Pontoon in the water (early May)
If you would like to help with any of these projects, please let us know. We also need to ask you to please tell others about our mission to see if they would like to come and help us. We go up almost every weekend in the spring. All meals and are provided and we have a great time. Please let us know if would like to help.
Thank you and God Bless You.
