My wife and I just returned from a trip to see our good friends of almost 40 years down in Louisiana. They have done very well over the years and have a lot to show for it; a beautiful family, many good friends, a gorgeous estate out in the country, to name a few. What is most important, is they have done it the right way. They have built a reputation of honor and integrity with their business practices and it has truly come back to them. They also give generously of their time and assets to their community. When we left 32 years ago they were struggling financially like the rest of us just getting started in our careers with the challenges of building a new business, dealing with a young family, and all the things life throws at you when you are young and trying to get on your feet. It is nice to say that “Good People Do Win”! At the end of the day, all you have is your reputation and your own assessment of who you are that really matters anyway. It’s not just about making money. Have fun, work hard, and give back. It will pay off.
